On Sunday my wife and I spent three hours at our allotment planting most of the plants we received from Wiggly Wigglers, my shoulders and legs haven’t ached as much since riding to work several weeks ago. We had already planted about 1/3 of the plot, but the other 2/3 was left to the weeds and clearing this took most of the three hours.

We now have a few rows of cabbage, cauliflower, swede, leeks and probably something else I’ve forgotten. Hopefully these plants will survive the onslaught from the pigeons and slugs. We’ve covered the plants in mesh which should stop the birds and I’ll sprinkle pellets around the plants to take care of the slugs.

Here’s a photo of the new plants, they’re not easy to see between the massacred weeds, but in a few weeks I’ll post another photo and there should be a big difference, if they survive that is!
