Don't you just love technology

I use RSS Bandit to aggregate RSS feeds so I can keep up to date with news from sources I’m interested in. I’m subscribed to quite a few feeds from Blogs, Money Talk, F-Secure Antivirus Research Website, Deb-Tech and the billblog. billblog is written by Bill Thompson, you may recognise the name from the BBC Technology site. Here’s the bit I like; Bill’s blog isn’t a valid feed as can be seen here! Technology, ain’t it great! Feed now fixed! See comments.

    Mmm… Deb-Tech – Is that like Blendtec?

  2. Bill Thompson says:

Well, you could have emailed me to let me know.. problem seems to be with Postalicious, which is taking material I tag on del.icio.us and posting it to WordPress, but failing to get the character set right. I’ll delve into it this weekend – bloglines seemed happy enough with the data (see, I do read my own feed) so I hadn’t noticed this.

Whatever happened to the spirit of co-operation? Or is making a cheap point more fun?

It’s a fair point. Back in July I didn’t have Bill’s email (I do now via his comment – assuming it is Bill Thompson and not someone posting as him). As I couldn’t email Bill, I posted a comment here, under my old blog name UKCodeMonkey. There isn’t a reply.

It took me a while to find the comment but it’s still there; and Bill does appear to have worked around the del.icio.us issue as RSS bandit is downloading his feed once more!

Just noticed my fingers were quicker than my brain on the original post to billblog; I meant to say Hi Bill, but I typed Hill Bill, oops!

  5. John says:

I’ve been looking at the referer logs and the IP address from “Bill” is in the range for “NTL Infrastructure – Huddersfield (NT…”, which is interesting as that’s where I’m from, and according to the real Bill’s homepage he’s from Cambridge!
